Leadership and Communication Micro-credential

A micro-credential in Leadership and Communication will prepare learners for professional success through exposure to theories and best practices in leadership and public speaking.

By successful completion of HUM2163 (leadership development) with a minimum grade of “D” or higher, learners will understand leadership qualities and skills which are evident in selected readings from classical literature, portrayed in selected films and discussed in contemporary leadership theory, the student will develop a fundamental understanding of leadership and the skills manifest in effective leaders. Participation in course discussions and activities will enable the student to develop personal leadership abilities.

By successful completion of COM2213 (Introduction to Public Speaking) with a minimum grade of “D” or higher, learners will understand the principles of effective listening and speaking, the student will assimilate those skills into his or her physical and psychological worlds. After being exposed to public, business and professional speaking, the student will apply the principles of invention, organization, style, and delivery through practical exercises and will use the principles of rhetorical criticism in discussing speeches delivered in class.
