The Bridging Communities: Museums & Tribal Histories micro-credential is an interdisciplinary experience designed for students interested in deepening their understanding of Native American histories while gaining hands-on skills in museum studies. Through a combination of academic learning and practical experience, students will explore Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives, especially those of Oklahoma’s First American Nations, and examine the role of museums in preserving, interpreting, and presenting these narratives. Earners of this micro-credential must complete Native American History HIST 2203 and Museum Studies HUM 2123 with a minimum grade of “D” or higher as well as complete 30 volunteer hours at the First Americans Museum (FAM) in Oklahoma City.
