HUM 1013 - Introduction to Philanthropy

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the nonprofit sector and the role of philanthropy in supporting social endeavors. Students will explore the structures and strategies of philanthropic organizations and the broad societal impacts of philanthropy. Topics include the history of philanthropy, theories of giving, missions and values in the nonprofit sector, funding sources, storytelling and public engagement, and ethical considerations. This course is designed for students pursuing a Certificate in Philanthropy, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies, a Humanities elective, or those seeking to expand their knowledge and skills for careers in the nonprofit sector.
