English Pre-Education/Literature

The Associate of Arts degree in English Pre-Education and Literature is designed for students who aspire to teach English or pursue further studies in literature. This program provides a comprehensive foundation in literary analysis and composition. Students will explore a wide range of literary works, from classical to contemporary, with a focus on  British and American literature.

The curriculum includes courses in literary theory, rhetoric, and creative writing, enabling students to develop strong analytical and writing skills. This curriculum will prepare students for future roles in education.

Through this program, students will gain an understanding of major literary movements, themes, and authors, as well as the ability to critically engage with texts. The program also emphasizes the development of effective communication skills, both written and oral, which are essential for teaching and other professional contexts.

Graduates of this program will be well-prepared to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or related fields, and to pursue careers in teaching, writing, and other professions requiring strong literary and communication skills.
